It’s vacation! Yeah! Unless…you’re a working parent or carer and have to work (womp womp). Or maybe your kids have a lot of energy and need something structured and active during that week off. Fear not, there is stuff out there that will keep both kiddos and adults on track and happy during all of that extra free time.
The Nature Museum, GRAFTON, VT
The Nature Museum Winter Break program is offered on Tue/Wed/Thu (Feb 21/22/23) from 9:30am-3:30pm (drop-off is 9am-9:30am and pick up is 3:30pm-4pm). Programming is for kids ages 6-11, with the Brave Bears program for 6-8 and Winter Walkers for 9-11.
The program is based on outdoor exploration and discovery, and each day has a different theme and focus. Campers need to bring appropriate outdoor gear and a packed lunch each day.
Ages: 6-11
Dates: Tue/Wed/Thu (Feb 21/22/23)
Times: 9:30am-3:30pm (drop-off is 9am-9:30am and pick up is 3:30pm-4pm)
Cost: $65 per day, all 3 for $175 (per student)
Edgar May Health and Recreation Center, Springfield, VT
Kids can sign up for up to four days of jam-packed fun at the Edgar May Health and Recreation Center in Springfield. Their four-day February adventure/vacation camp program offers everything from swimming, arts and crafts, sledding and tubing to bowling and a morning trip to the Springfield Cinemas.
Financial aid is available and campers need to bring appropriate outdoor gear, swim gear and a packed lunch each day.

Times: 8am-4pm
Cost: $75 per day, all 4 for $250 ($200 for Edgar May members)

Want to try something a little different? How about Camp Hygge, a week centered around the Scandinavian concept “Hygge?” According to SVAC’s website, “Hygee (pronounced “hoo-gah”) is the quality of coziness and togetherness that leads to a feeling of contentment and well being, especially in winter. ” This program offers children the chance to explore winter-themed crafts, outdoor fun, games, sensory exploration activities, all the while connecting with each other.
Plan to bring outdoor gear and a lunch.
